There’s only nine weeks to go until Latitude Festival 2019 and we’ve got even more new names for you to make it our biggest Latitude line up yet!

Plus, we’re delighted to announce our new podcast stage, The Listening Post, and the return of Street Feast with 60 delicious food vendors for you to sample.

The beautiful surrounds of Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk will be filled with even more music, arts, family fun and delectable food on 18th-21st July.

We’re excited to announce today Katherine Ryan as your fourth comedy headliner. Latitude evolves each year and we’re thrilled to bring you a new stage, The Listening Post, dedicated solely to podcasts.

We also have a bounty of literary and poetry names for The SpeakEasy including headliners novelist, poet and playwright Deborah Levy and author Max Porter, plus the UK’s Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and novelist Joe Dunthorne.

BBC Music Introducing is making a welcome return with BBC Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary broadcasting live from the festival. We also have a huge array of family activities to unveil for both children and adults alike at the festival. Plus, Street Feast makes a welcome return with 60 food vendors, Theatre Of Food is back with more food demos and speakers and The Hothouse returns to serve you tantalising dishes by the lake.

For those looking to soothe their mind, body and soul SOLAS will is back as the place to chill out. Plus, Lake Swimming returns with the addition of Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Little Lifeguarding.

We’re ecstatic to share with you that Katherine Ryan is your final comedy headliner! Katherine joins our already announced headliners Frank Skinner, Michelle Wolf and Jason Manford, plus many more joke slinging comedy legends.

Katherine Ryan said about her upcoming performance: “My daughter and her best friend look forward to Latitude Festival every year, and it’s the one we always make a point of spending the whole weekend enjoying. I’m thrilled to be performing in the comedy arena for Latitude 2019. The children will be mortified.”

The star of Netflix’s The Fix and her own global comedy special, ‘Katherine Ryan: In Trouble’, Katherine Ryan is a comic supreme who will have you aching with laughter at in the Comedy Arena this July.

The Listening Post

Love podcasts? You’ll love Latitude this summer as we’re pleased to announce a brand new stage dedicated to podcasts called The Listening Post.

Headlining The Listening Post bill is Cariad Lloyd with her podcast, Griefcast, which won Podcast Of The Year at the Podcast Awards 2018. Cariad will be joined by three comedians for Griefcast to talk about everything from awkward funeral songs to whether there is an afterlife – believe us, it’s much cheerier than it sounds!

In a Latitude exclusive we’re chuffed to reveal Amusical, the hilarious comedic love letter to Broadway and the West End, will now come in podcast form and will be launched live at Latitude 2019.

Also coming to The Listening Post stage will be David Olshanetsky, “The Voice of Generation Z” and creator of The Shitney Spears, with David’s Out For A Good Time, the Dane Baptiste Questions Everything podcast with guests, multi-award winning sitcom, Wooden Overcoats, a sitcom about rival funeral directors, plus many more groundbreaking podcasts.

Latitude wouldn’t be Latitude without an eclectic bill of literary giants and bright up-and-comers to enrich your mind in The SpeakEasy.

Headlining The SpeakEasy are Man Booker shortlisted novelist, poet and playwright Deborah Levy and author Max Porter. Deborah Levy is one of the most exciting new voices to emerge in print in the last decade and is renowned for her witty and dark explorations of complex female relationships. Max Porter is the author of the acclaimed Grief If A Thing With Feathers and will be making his Latitude debut reading to you from his second novel, Lany.

Joining them in The SpeakEasy are The Women’s Prize For Fiction who make a welcome return to the festival this time with Viv Groskop, Scarlet Curtis and Bernadine Evaristo. Plus, The British Academy will be coming to the festival for the very first time.

We’re also overjoyed to have the newly crowned UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage topping the poetry bill, alongside Joe Dunthorne. Best known as the novelist behind Submarine, and The Adulterants, Joe is set to perform pieces from his funny and dark debut poetry collection.

BBC Music Introducing

If you’re looking to discover the biggest unsigned and under the radar music across the UK, BBC Music Introducing Stage is once again the place to be at Latitude this July.

Almost 50% of the Latitude 2019 line up has come from the BBC Music Introducing scheme, including our Friday Night headliner George Ezra, so this is where you’ll be able to watch the stars of tomorrow first.

BBC Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary will be broadcasting LIVE on the Saturday morning at the festival with live music, and special guests. To be part of the audience, listen in to Dermot’s show on Saturday 6th July from 8am to find out more.

Dermot O’Leary says: “I’ve been DJing in the woods at Latitude, as well as broadcasting from the festival, for many years and it’s always been a favourite of mine. I love the fact that there’s something for everyone – from literature to comedy to sheep- and of course some fantastic live music. I can’t wait to bring my Radio 2 Saturday Breakfast Show to the BBC Music Introducing stage this year.”

We’ve got even more eclectic music names to fill your ears at Latitude 2019. Joining the bill are LP also known as Laura Pergolizzi,  Suffolk based community choir Pop Chorus return to the BBC Sounds Stage, Scandi-duo Anna of The North headline The Lake Stage, and Stockholm’s unruly post-punks Viagra Boys top The Alcove Stage.

Fun for all the family

Last year we won the Best Family Festival award and this year we’re proud to bring you more activities across three separate areas that are fun for all the family .

In the Kids Area, nestled in between the lake and the forest, your little ones can get involved in everything from traditional woodland crafts to wild science experiments. You and your children can join authors Laura Trinder and Christopher Lloyd, visit OKIDO Artist’s Studio to work with designers and illustrators behind CBeebies popular animation series, explore the Wild Science Tent for Guardian Of The Gut, Splat Anatomy! and much more.

Whilst in the Enchanted Garden you can visit our new Craft Tent, including Patches ever-growing patchwork blanket and some dazzling Sand-art. If you have children over 12 they can join our Inbetweener’s Teen Area for music, media, fashion and technology workshops, including a Special Effect Make Up Tutorial and retro gaming in the Unreality Tent.

Street feast is back!

After making their debut at Latitude last year, Street Feast are back to take you on a food adventure once again. You’ll be able to eat delicious and well-sourced food from dozens of different countries and cuisines – from pillowy soft Chinese bao buns to fiery Caribbean jerk chicken, and fresh Middle Eastern mezze boxes to mighty Mexican jackfruit tacos.

The Hothouse

You can once again have a restaurant experience right in the heart of Henham Park with The Hothouse. Returning for a second year, The Hothouse is a spectacular restaurant housed inside an adapted polytunnel, decorated as a French brocante, that offers table service.

The Hothouse menu is sourced from six independent food producers, that include Boxfood Caribbean, Persian Chicken, Guerrilla Kitchen, Seacow, Yellow Turban Thali, and The Taco Kitchen.

Theatre Of Food

Theatre Of Food also returns for a second year with more cooking sessions, inspiring food  and, of course, the chance to sample the goods yourself.  Across the weekend festival goers can witness Georgina Hayden, renowned cook, and food writer, the return of award winning author Felicity Cloake, and cult restaurant Persepolis owner Sally Butcher.

Also added are Rising Star Of Food 2019 Rachel Ama, cookbook author Charlotte Pike, Norwich Legend Richard Bainbridge, TED X Speaker Kittie Kipper, and more, all to take place on the beautifully designed kitchen from Anglia Factors.

Deep in the heart of the Henham Park woods is SOLAS, a peaceful retreat dedicated solely to chilling out. Treat yourself to a relaxing yoga session, immerse yourself in a wellbeing treatment, or simply take a moment to explore the beautiful art installations.

Lake swimming, paddle boarding and Little Lifeguard sessions

A favourite of many, Lake Swimming returns once again to Latitude. This year, there’s also the chance to try your hand at Stand Up Paddle Boarding, while youngsters aged 8-12 can learn water safety techniques and become Little Lifeguards.

British Sign Language request service at all stages

We pride ourselves on Latitude being a festival for everyone which is why we have attained Silver Award Status by Attitude Is Everything. So, we are pleased to announce that at this summer’s festival the British Sign Language (BSL), provided by Performance Interpreting LTD, request service will cover all stages!

We’ve also increased the viewing platform in The Comedy Arena by 25% compared to last year. Plus, we’re providing BSL viewing areas in BBC Sounds Stage and Obelisk Arena.
