What To Expect From Foals’ New Album ‘Life Is Yours’

Your Saturday headliners, Foals, will be releasing their seventh studio album, ‘Life Is Yours’, next month.

We can’t wait to hear some new material at cinch presents Latitude! We’ve done some research and put together everything we can find about the new record.

We’ve Heard Three Singles So Far

Dance-y lead single ‘Wake Me Up’ was released in November last year to critical acclaim. Written during lockdown, frontman Yannis Philippakis told NME that the song is about wishing you were anywhere else. “I wanted to be out of the fever dream that was the last 18 months,” he said. “The main line, ‘Wake me up’ is saying, ‘Pinch me – get me out of here’.”

The band have since released two other singles, ‘2am’ and ‘Looking High’. They’ve also been teasing new songs on their recent headline tour, including ‘2001’ and the album’s title track.

It’ll Be Poppier Than Previous Efforts

Yannis has said of the album: “We wanted to refocus and do something that shared a DNA throughout the songs: a physicality, a danceability, and with energy and joyousness. It’s definitely the poppiest record we’ve ever made. I feel that with Everything Not Saved… we touched upon all of the facets of our sound up until that point. This time we wanted to find a new way to express ourselves.”

This new poppy sound can definitely be heard in single ‘2am’.

It’s Their First Album As A Trio

‘Life Is Yours’ will be the first album Foals have released as a trio consisting of Yannis, guitarist Jimmy Smith and drummer Jack Bevan. It was written in their shared rehearsal space during the winter of 2020.

It’ll also be the first time the band have collaborated with multiple producers on an album. Grammy winner John Hill, who’s worked with the likes of Cage The Elephant and Kings of Leon, is listed as a producer on all three singles. Dan Carey is also credited on the album, known for his work with Fontaines D.C.

‘Life Is Yours’ is scheduled to be released on 17th June 2022.

Foals will headline cinch presents Latitude 2022, alongside Lewis Capaldi and Snow Patrol. It takes place in Henham Park on 21st-24th July 2022. Tickets are on sale now.
