The Zen Project’s Tips for Managing Stress: Shaking Your Body

Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month? According to a recent study by the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of people report feeling so stressed that they’ve been overwhelmed or unable to cope. We’re here to help!

Our friends at The Zen Project are offering a series of Zen Tips throughout April to relieve stress and help you find your inner zen. Stressbusting Tip no.4 from The Zen Project  is one we think you will all love…. Shaking your body!

Shaking the body helps to release blocked energy and offers a radically transformative way to deal with stress. It helps to rewire the nervous system, bringing us into relaxation mode.

Intrigued? Give it a try!

Start by standing with your feet shoulder width apart, eyes softly gazing at the distance. Relax the arms down by your side. Allow the knees to be relaxed and slightly bent. Begin shaking and feeling the bounce through your knees and let the vibration spread to your arms and shoulders. Try to shake your entire body with little trembles and full body shakes. Continue for a few minutes and observe any changes in the body and mind during and after the practice.
