The Kids Area once again proved itself to be a festival within a festival this year, with an exceptional range of activities for festivalgoers of all ages to enjoy.
In the Kids’ Theatre Tent, families were treated to a thrilling performance of The Extraordinary Time-Travelling Adventures of Baron Munchausen, as well as John Hinton’s Ensongclopedia. Youngsters also got the chance to bust a move themselves, with a musical theatre masterclass from Shine on Stage and a breakdancing workshop from Kelfx and Francis.
Budding creatives were able to get stuck into a huge array of arts and crafts activities. They produced a wonderful army of sock puppets, practised whittling, felting and collaging, and even made their own pom-pom replicas of the iconic Latitude pink sheep!
Visitors to the area also explored the wonderful world of reading, with talks from renowned children’s authors including Nigel Lungemuss Ward, Anne Stairmand and Gareth P. Jones.
From bookworms to earthworms, the Kids’ Area also had a range of wildlife and nature-related activities on offer. Dr. Jenni Rant led a discussion on biodiversity with her Nature Detectives, while the Woodcraft Folk woodland base brought kids closer to nature, letting their creativity run free.
