Meet a Latitude Family…Robin, Dora, Tilly, Hattie and Edward

Since the beginning Latitude has always had families at its heart. We’ve won the Best Family Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards not once but twice!

But, what keeps families coming back to Latitude every year? In our new series Meet a Latitude Family…you can find out as families share with us their experience of the festival.

In our first edition of Meet a Latitude Family, we catch up with parents Robin and Dora and their children Tilly aged 10, Hattie aged 8 and Edward age 1. Mum Dora shares with us why Latitude is now a regular summer festival for her family.

How long have you been coming to Latitude as a family?

This will be our fourth Latitude.

Why would you recommend coming to Latitude as a family with young children?

There is so much for us to enjoy together – music, dance, crafts and activities in the kids area, comedy, theatre.  Walking around at night with the laser shows over the water.

Latitude Family

What makes you keep coming back year after year?

A combination of the familiar and fun: the pink sheep, the bubble stall, the helter skelter, the umbrellas, tree climbing, walking home past the lights on the bridge after a late set. And, the new: a band or comedian we haven’t heard before, a quirky installation, or just something the children weren’t old enough for last year that suddenly becomes relevant.

What do your children like most about coming to Latitude?

Spending time having fun as a family. Crafts, music, camping and late nights.

What’s your children’s favourite thing to do at Latitude?

Something different every year. SOLAS after dark and the laser show on the bridge are always popular. Last year swimming in the lake and taking masses of pictures of George Ezra! The youngest was enchanted by the enormous sand pile and Mrs H.

The Murray Family

What’s your favourite thing to do at Latitude?

We have one die hard comedy fan who will happily sit in that tent all day. I like finding smaller bands I wouldn’t hear about otherwise, but I’m also a sucker for the willow weaving (technically for the children…).

What has been your fondest Latitude memory as a family?

Walking home together sharing churros late at night with the rainbow lights shining all around.

What artists are you looking forward to seeing at Latitude 2020?

HAIM. The Lumineers. Keane. Phoebe Bridgers… but there will be more!
