Prof Maggie Aderin-Pocock is the co-host of The Sky at Night. She is a space scientist, mechanical engineer and ever enthusiastic and passionate about science. She is an honorary research associate of University College London’s Department of Physics and Astronomy, and is the chancellor of the University of Leicester. In 2024 she was elevated to become Dame Maggie for services to science education and diversity. Her research work has included working with a group developing a high-resolution spectrograph for the Gemini telescope in Chile.
