JAKL (aka Hughie Gavin) creates atmospheric, emotional, rich that blends cinematic soundscapes and intimate songwriting. An Emmy-nominated composer, arranger and musical director, he has built a reputation for evocative vocal-led works, both as a solo artist and as a collaborator with major artists, labels, and broadcasters. JAKL was previously named one of Glastonbury’s Emerging Artists, and has received radio support from BBC Radio1, BBC Radio 6, XFM and BBC Introducing. Beyond JAKL, Hughie’s wider career includes global campaigns for WWF, Audi and the 2019 Turner Prize, and choral collaborations with HBO’s True Detective, BBC’s Silent Witness, and labels Ninja Tune and Universal. His reinterpretation of Billie Eilish’s ‘When The Party’s Over’ for WWF won two British Arrows and a Music+Sound nomination for Best ReRecord.
