For the first time in her vibrant pop career, Caity Baser didn’t know what to do next. The
Southampton-born singer, songwriter, and pop provocateur had gone from making tunes on
TikTok and playing back rooms to 100 people to colossal virality, Top 40 chart hits and sold-out
tours in a year. She was tipped by music and culture press – NME, Dork, Notion, Cosmopolitan,
Rolling Stone UK and more – for her whip smart lyricism that speaks to Gen Z’s collective heart.
And while she’s now riding high on her BRITs Rising Star nomination and the BBC Sound of
2024 longlisting, we have to rewind back to the start of 2023, where she felt foggy, directionless.
Caity emerged from the fug of festival and touring season – jumping from Reading’s BBC
Introducing stage to packing out the festival’s Radio 1 Dance Tent the year following, Australia
and New Zealand dates – and was trying to make new music in snatches of time: the back of a
