Aardman Movies To Watch This Easter Weekend

It’s the Easter holidays, and the long Bank Holiday weekend is fast approaching!

There’s nothing better than watching a good movie while tucking into some choccy eggs. If you’re stuck for ideas, here’s our top picks from family favourite Aardman. From Chicken Run to Shaun The Sheep, there’s something for kids and grown-ups alike!

The creative folks at Aardman will also be coming to cinch presents Latitude 2022 for a very special model making workshop. Don’t miss out!

Chicken Run

It wouldn’t be Easter without Chicken Run! 22 years old but still as charming as ever, this movie stole our hearts back in 2000. The story about a group of plucky (excuse the pun) chickens became the highest grossing stop-motion animated film in history. Catch it on Netflix – we hear there’s a sequel coming next year too!

Early Man

A more recent Aardman flick, Early Man premiered in 2018. With an all-star cast including Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston and Maisie Williams, the story follows a tribe of cavemen who have to defend their village from Bronze Age invaders in a football match. Footie fans will love this one! Find it on BBC iPlayer.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit

The beloved Wallace & Gromit face off against a giant rabbit in their first ever feature film. This isn’t a friendly Easter Bunny – the dynamic duo must stop him before he eats all the town’s crops! Curse Of The Were-Rabbit won multiple awards, including Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. You can watch it on iPlayer, and a sequel is due to premiere on the BBC in 2024.

Flushed Away

Flushed Away was the first Aardman movie completely made with CGI animation, rather than stop-motion. Starring the likes of Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet, the BAFTA-nominated film follows the adventures of pet mouse Roddy, who is accidentally flushed down the toilet! Watch it now on Netflix.

Shaun The Sheep Movie

No Aardman movie list would be complete without Shaun The Sheep! Based on the popular TV series, Shaun and his flock are on a mission to save their farmer. A box office smash, the movie scored nominations at the Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes. Kids may notice that children’s presenter Justin Fletcher (aka Mr Tumble) provides the voice of Shaun! Catch it on iPlayer.
