Join Charles Foster and Nick Crane in conversation with Patrick Barkham, as they travel in the Anthropocene, examining human culture and its pathways through our natural world; from Britain’s footpaths to the furthest frontiers of the planet.

Writer and Oxford Fellow Charles Foster, whose New York Times bestseller Being a Beast, in which he attempted to experience the world as a badger, otter, fox, red deer and swift, won the Ig Nobel Prize for Biology, is one of the most singular figures in British nature writing.

Nick Crane is a geographer and broadcaster who has published 10 books and has been the lead presenter on more than 60 BBC films. Nick’s latest book, The Path More Travelled, The Secret History of British Footpaths is ‘a glorious love letter to the British countryside.’
