Sammie is a glaciologist in the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling at Northumbria University. Her research focuses on the surface hydrology of Antarctica’s ice shelves, and modelling how and where ice shelves may become vulnerable to sudden collapse. This is important in determining Antarctica’s contribution to global sea levels. She also has interests in Greenland’s sub-surface hydrology and snow and melt on Arctic sea ice.
She is a passionate communicator of science, regularly appearing on shows from The Cosmic Shambles Network, Maths Inspiration and An Evening of Unnecessary Deta.
