Pollyfromthedirt takes his name from his mum, Polly, and his hometown’s affectionate nickname, The Dirt. His story starts close to home: he only picked up a guitar after his dad flogged his PlayStation following a row. That Northern pragmatism and dry humour thread through his work, and songs that take aim at British culture while reflecting suburban life with affection, irony, and bite. Filtering his distinct Northern Droll, through a warped sprawl of sounds that are packed with unorthodox rhythms that hit like jet lag, scrambling the body’s sense of time and space.

What began as a free-flowing creative outlet has deepened into a push and pull between familiar comfort and bold sonic risks. His coiled performances wrestle with the many fiascos of life and love, a sound tough enough to sustain the daily grind and big enough to keep the dream alive. The result is music that feels both insurgent and tender, poking fun at British touchstones while drifting into a stranger, more shadowed world.

Early releases earned him a growing cult status online, their nostalgic charm and razor wit resonating with a generation constantly seeking out a balance between sincerity and satire. His voice remains as homespun as his production: mischievous yet tender, timeless and distinctly modern.
Following a run of live shows across the UK and singles that earned praise from The Guardian, Pigeons & Planes, The Face, NME, Notion, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Wonderland, Indie Hourz, Far Out Mag, BBC 6 Music, and more, the debut EP cements him as one of the most intriguing new voices to emerge from England’s suburbs.
