DanceEast presents Le Patin Libre, who have become known internationally as a little figure skating revolution. Founded in Montreal, Canada, by renegade skaters determined to break free from sparkles, medals, and competitive clichés, the company has developed a virtuosic, urban, contemporary and sometimes acrobatic approach to the art of gliding. Wheels & Cello pushes this spirit even further. In this playful and poetic piece, one performer switches skates for strings, while the others exchange blades for wheels, transforming the stage into a rolling, musical playground.
The show radiates joyfulness, camaraderie, and emancipated pride. Yet, even in its most dynamic moments, it never abandons the refined grace and deep musicality that have become Le Patin Libre’s signature.
