Be a part of the World Premiere of the Instant DubScorechestra, led by dub pioneer Dennis Bovell MBE, in an improvised score for Mary Shelly’s cult American horror The Bride of Frankenstein (dir. James Whale, 1935).
Imagine fusing cinema with spontaneous live dub music to create a truly accessible and exhilarating music-making experience for all, with no rehearsals. All musical abilities and all musical instruments are welcome in our glorious array of instrumentalists, singers and humans, swelled by actor-musician students from Rose Bruford, plus members of the legendary Instant Orchestra and whoever else turns up!
Past guest artists have included Soweto Kinch, Adriano Adewale, Ruth Goller and Mandhira De Saram.
For 2026, Dennis Bovell MBE – Live dubbing – will lead onstage with his star-studded Dub Band: Ashanti Selah – Keys (Vivian Jones, Twinkle Brothers), Kenrick Rowe – Drums (The Specials, PJ Harvey), Jo Cocco – Guitar (Max Romeo, The Abyssinians) and Spy Austin – Bass (Desmond Dekker, The Style Council).
Bovell is Britain’s reggae maestro, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and dub pioneer. He shaped Lovers Rock, led Matumbi, collaborated with the likes of Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Slits, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Orange Juice, Fela Kuti, Boy George, Sade,… scored films, and continues to innovate, produce, and perform globally over a 50-year career.
