Charlie Brooker

Join the diabolical genius behind Netflix’s Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker, in our Music and Film Arena. Charlie and his Black Mirror co-creator and showrunner, Annabel Jones, will be discussing the blockbuster anthology series that has come to define our collective unease with the modern world.

TALK ART with RUSSELL TOVEY

We are thrilled to bring you – in an only at Latitude exclusive – Talk Art with Russell Tovey and gallerist Robert Diament. In this not to be missed first live broadcast of their podcast, you can watch Russell and Robert as they interview very special guests from the world of art.

Russell Tovey and Robert Diament say:

“We are filled with joy and excitement to be invited to bring our Talk Art podcast to the stage for the very first time. We set up the show last October as a way to document our friendship and passion for contemporary art. It has since grown into something bigger than we ever thought possible with tens of thousands of listeners all over the world and leading guests from the worlds of art, film, TV and music, all exploring how art can change and improve our lives. We can’t wait to interview a very special guest in front of a live audience of art and music lovers!!”

Imelda May – Hallowed

We’re excited to have Imelda May back at the festival to premiere an exclusive performance art piece – Hallowed – in collaboration with Latitude.

For the first time ever, May will open up her private world to you in this abstract and unique peek through the keyhole experience. Within an illuminated reflective-cube in our secluded woodland, Imelda will welcome you inside a sensory space to watch her write and observe her creative process both within and also ‘on’ her fractured glass walled environment.

Speaking about Hallowed, Imelda May said:

“’’Hallowed’ is a very personal project for me. I’ve put a lot of thought, heart and soul into it. I’ve delved. My reason for doing it is because I’m often asked about my creative/writing process which I find hard to describe. Art leads me. It’s a quiet, calm, safe, almost sacred space for me. And, as are most artists I know, I’m both an introvert and extrovert depending on what I’m doing.  So I’ve decided to creatively open up which naturally feels intrusive but my aim is to make it feel inclusive.”

Me My Father – Nick Broomfield

Acclaimed British documentary maker Nick Broomfield (Whitney: Can I Be Me, Kurt & Courtney, Biggie and Tupac, Marianne & Leonard) will give a special preview of his latest project My Father & Me at Latitude.

The project sees Nick turning his attention closer to home as he examines his relationship with his late father, Maurice Broomfield. As a photographer Maurice made some of the most spectacular photographs of British industry, and emphasized the heroic, sublime, futuristic and sometimes surreal qualities of industry.

The Guilty Feminist

We’re overjoyed to bring you the award-winning comedy podcast, The Guilty Feminist, live at Latitude. Hosted by Deborah Frances-White in the Theatre Arena you can watch as a panel of special guests discuss some of the issues 21st century feminists wrestle with daily, whilst confessing the “buts” that undermine our lofty principles.

Deborah Frances-White will also be performing stand-up in the Cabaret Theatre.

Asif Kapadia

The Oscar and BAFTA-winning director of Amy and Senna, Asif Kapadia, is back in the Music and Film Arena with a screening of his new film, Diego Maradona.

Diego Maradona is a wild and irreverent look at one of the world’s most iconic sportsmen, both on and off the pitch. After the film you’ll have the unique opportunity to put your questions to Asif Kapadia in a Q&A.

Speaking about his return to Latitude, Asif Kapadia said:

“I love Latitude Festival!! I’ve been lucky enough to attend a few times and for me it’s perfect mix of music, films, comedy, all the of the arts in one place! I’m really looking forward to presenting DIEGO MARADONA, as I did a few years ago with AMY, having a chat afterwards.”

Ben Okri

The SpeakEasy line up is now bursting at the seams with talent as celebrated poet and novelist, Ben Okri, tops literary line-up.

This year Okri released The Freedom Artist, his most significant and celebrated novel since his Man Booker Prize-winning Masterpiece, The Famished Road. The novel expertly weaves together ancient myth and modern politics in a fiercely told story of love and loss. Political yet ferociously optimistic, Okri refuses to stop asking the most difficult questions and will be doing so in The SpeakEasy at Latitude.
