Conceived by Radio presenter, musical director and composer Max Reinhardt & using techniques inspired by the likes of Cornelius Cardew’s Scratch Orchestra, the Instant Scorechsestra fuses film with spontaneous live music creating a truly accessible music- making experience for all.
Musicians and Non-Musicians, this is your moment. If you’re onsite…this is your night!!!!!
Normal Instant Orchestra rules apply: No rehearsal! All humans welcome with instruments, voices or other noise making implements. There is also a stock of instruments on loan, waiting to be played by people who haven’t got their own.
This ain’t a ‘jam’, though improvisation is encouraged. Each of the films is a ‘visual score’ which the orchestra will be led through by musical luminaries of our day, in this case:
On violin and recorders, Laura Cannell, a supernaturally gifted composer, improvisor and instrumentalist. She comes fresh from her residency at Snape Maltings with Kate Ellis, a duo who released an intriguing and stunning EP for each month of last year in their These Feral Land series on Brawl Records ( https://boomkat.com/artists/laura-cannell-and-kate-ellis). On harmonium, Sarah Nicolls , composer, activist and doyenne of prepared and frequently acrobatic piano. On percussion, Adriano Adewale, virtuoso percussionist and composer.
So, come to the Lavish Lounge on Thursday evening and be a part of a spontaneous, collaborative, audience interactive, live music, film & performance happening!
